Opening a new dimension in wireless LAN design for IEEE 802.11 a/b/g/h WiFi networks
San Diego, London, Milano, Munich September 10, 2007 – Psiber Data Limited, today announced the launch of a cost effective, truly 3 dimensional WiFi planning software, allowing network professionals to accurately lay out optimal network coverage in even the most complex building environments with multi-level floor plans. The “RF3D WifiPlanner“ permits the cost effective and application specific design from simple to most complex wireless networks, featuring a truly 3-dimensional computation of the local network coverage in buildings, which - for the first time - recognizes interferences from access points on other floors. The fast 3D computation engine allows interactive placement and optimization of access points. Saving the need to install one access point already pays for the cost of the product.

Up until today, the time- and cost-effective planning of robust, highly available networks – especially in multi-storey buildings – proved extremely difficult.”
The “RF3D WifiPlanner” software supports all IEEE 802.11 a/b/g/h networks and is independent of component manufacturers. The design of a wireless network is performed in three steps: Import the floor plans of single or multi level buildings in JPG, PNG and BMP formats, rotate and scale the plans so that all floors line up properly. Then use the built-in libraries or custom design walls and floors to precisely match the buiding’s RF characteristics. Finally place access points including antenna types from a predefined open library, which can be easily supplemented by the user. The 3D computation engine immediately visualizes the resulting field strength, allowing the interactive optimization of numbers, locations and configurations of individual access points before even installing a single one.
Besides field strength, further operating parameters of the wireless network can be visualized at every location of the floor plan: Interferences, signal to noise ratios, resulting data rates up as well as failure simulations, which show the remaining radio coverage in case the strongest or 2nd strongest access points fail at a particular location. These screens present a meaningful visualization and documentation of the WiFi network under plan which – printed as a report – will serve as a basis for quotations for service providers as well as a work instruction for installers.
Psiber Data’s “RF3D WifiPlanner“ is a cost effective 3 dimensional WiFi simulation and modelling tool, which enables manufacturer independent planning of wireless networks in multi storey buildings, suitable for the WiFi novice as well as for the skilled planner and service provider. The software is available in two versions at a recommended retail price of € 295 for the RF3D WifiPlanner Lite, targeted at the semiprofessional (i.e. projects up to 10 access points and 5 floors), and € 595 for the unlimited version of RF3D WifiPlanner.

Test Tools are pleased to announce a new sole distribution agreement for the UK and Ireland with Swedish Test Equipment manufacturer T2C.
The agreement covers the distribution of T2Cs newest handheld network Discovery device LanSpectre PRO.
LanSpectre PRO offers a simple and affordable means of detecting devives attached to the network, displaying station names, protocol, MAC Address and IP address. Once discovered, devices are classified as switch, PC, Server or Router.
The database can then be exported to a csv database via the instruments HTTP interface.
LanSpectre Pro will be available from Test Tools Europe authorised reseller channels at a list price of £175.00 + VAT.
